A day after the murder of 27-years-old tea vendor of Bhainsa Tibba village, the Panchkula police today booked two persons.

The accused have been identified as house owner Avtar Singh and Sonu, both residents of Mansa Devi Complex. A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered against the accused on the complaint of victim’s younger brother Ombir.

Family members of deceased Rambir today staged a protest in Mansa Devi Complex and raised slogans against the Panchkula police over the ‘delay’ in the arrest of accused.

Earlier in the morning, they staged a protest. They also blocked the road in the evening, keeping the body on the road. They lifted their protest after the police pacified them.

Complainant Ombir had alleged that his brother was killed by house owner Avtar Singh, his friend Sonu and two-three others persons over the pending rent.

Bhagwan Dass, SHO, Mansa Devi Police station, said a case had been registered and they had started the investigation. The body was handed over to family after the postmortem, he said.

On the family’s allegations of delay in the arrest of accused, the SHO said they were checking every aspect and fact. He said they would arrest the accused accordingly. There is no delay on the part of police, he clarified. — TNS
