Two drug peddlers held with 200 grams of heroin

MOHALI: Sleuths of the Special Task Force, Mohali, arrested two drug peddlers with 200 grams of heroin from Airport Chowk here on Tuesday.

Sleuths of the Special Task Force, Mohali, arrested two drug peddlers with 200 grams of heroin from Airport Chowk here on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Amit Kumar, a resident of Mani Majra, Chandigarh, and Talwinder Kumar from Badal Colony, Zirakpur.

The police also recovered a Ford Icon car, bearing registration number CH04 2258, from their possession.

Giving information, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajinder Singh Sohal said the drug peddlers were arrested following a tip-off.

“During their interrogation, the drug peddlers confessed that they were in the drug business for past five-six months. They were active in the Mohali area,” said the SP.

He said investigations were on in the case to break the drug chain. A case under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the duo. Both accused were produced before a court, which sent them to two-day police remand.
