Patiala, August 13

The police have arrested two persons, including a ‘granthi’ of a gurdwara in patran town, for rape and abduction.

The accused have been identified as Sanyog Singh, a resident of Chunagara village, and Jeewan Singh, a granthi at village gurdwara.

The father of the 15-year-old victim said Sanyog abducted his daughter when she was on her way to school and took her to an isolated place and allegedly raped her on Friday morning. The accused had come in a car and took the girl forcibly in the vehicle. The granthi made an objectionable video of the girl and threatened her.

However, the school watchman noted down the registration number of the car and informed the parents of the victim and the police. The accused returned to the village in the afternoon to drop the girl, but fled after seeing the police and villagers outside the victim’s school.

A case under Sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping), 366A (procuration of minor girl), 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (punishment for causing injuries voluntarily) of the IPC and Section 4 (penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered against the accused.
