Use eco-friendly bags

The move of the government and other organisations to promote environment friendly bags is really commendable, but the news reports suggest that the supply of such environment friendly bags is still a distant dream.

The move of the government and other organisations to promote environment friendly bags is really commendable, but the news reports suggest that the supply of such environment friendly bags is still a distant dream. The authorities concerned should increase the supply of such bags. Governments should provide a subsidy to firms which have started producing environment friendly bags. Many nations have already curtailed the growing menace of plastic by increasing tax on plastic goods. In India too, the government should implement taxes on plastic goods. The people should realise their responsibility and while going out for shopping, they should use bags which are made of jute and other fabric which is biodegradable. By promoting the use of such  bags, we can save environment. In simple words, we need to stop using the plastic material.

Stop using plastic carry bags

Plastic has become a bane for the City Beautiful. It has been damaging the beauty of Chandigarh. It is high time to ponder over this issue and take major steps. First of all, it is the duty of  citizens to take initiatives. We all need to change our mindset and our daily lifestyle. I feel we should use more of cotton and jute bags, to recycle more and more of plastic. There is a great need to curb the usage of poly bags. Children should be taught to avoid plastic bags. Before the government, it is our responsibility to save our environment.

Road cries for attention

About seven months ago, a fresh water pipe started leaking under a road in front of house numbers 1112 and 972, Sector 21, Panchkula. The pipe was repaired, but nobody bothered to re-carpet the road again. Till date, it is crying for attention. This road can harm commuters as it becomes slippery when water accumulates here. So, the department concerned should take appropriate action as soon as possible to avoid any mishap.
