UT Admn seeks another extension for Aggarwal

CHANDIGARH: The UT Administration has sought another extension in deputation of Haryana-cadre IAS officer Anurag Aggarwal, who holds the post of Home Secretary besides charges of several departments.

Chandigarh, April 16

The UT Administration has sought another extension in deputation of Haryana-cadre IAS officer Anurag Aggarwal, who holds the post of Home Secretary besides charges of several departments.

The three-year tenure of Aggarwal had ended on January 11. Later, he was given a three-month extension. While the officer had proceeded on the leave on April 12 after his three-month extension period ended, the Administration is awaiting the approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for another extension to the officer.

The Administration has given the charges of his departments to the Finance Secretary while he is on leave.

Sources said Aggarwal would join duty if the MHA okayed extension in his deputation in the UT. Sources said the Administration was trying to retain him for some more time as the UT was facing shortage of officers.

Presently, many important posts, including that of MC Commissioner, Managing Director, CITCO, and Chairman, CHB, are vacant. The UT has recommended the names of officials for these posts to the Centre, which is yet to take a call on it. — TNS
