Woman among four booked for robbery, extortion

Four persons have been booked on the charge of robbery, extortion, kidnapping and causing hurt.

The accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, Jaspal Singh, Paramjeet Kaur and an unknown person. A case under Sections 392, 388, 365, 394, 323, 506 and 120 of the IPC has been registered against the accused.

Complainant Manoj Kumar, a resident of Shahi Majra, told the police that he works as a security service provider and on June 14, Paramjeet Kaur came to his office for a job interview. After the interview, she told the complainant that she was a divorcee and lived with her aunt. Then she asked the complainant to drop her in his car in Kharar. Kumar said later, she asked him to go to a dhaba on the Morinda road and when they ordered tea at the dhaba, three youths came there in a jeep. Paramjeet Kaur said they were her brothers — Gurpreet Singh and Jaspal Singh. Meanwhile, the three boys caught hold of the complainant and thrashed him badly, he said. He was forcibly taken towards Morinda and Rs 60,000 cash, which was lying in his car and his debit and credit cards were snatched by them, said the complainant.

He said they forcibly extracted password of the cards and withdrew cash from an ATM and used his debit card for purchasing goods from Morinda. Later on, they dropped him in Kharar about 8 pm. The victim was admitted to the Kharar Civil Hospital for treatment. —OC
