‘Eyes and ear’ scheme helps police catch snatchers

NEW DELHI: With the help of an “eyes and ears” scheme member, the police have arrested two snatchers Sartaj Ali and Sonu, said a police official.

With the help of an “eyes and ears” scheme member, the police have arrested two snatchers Sartaj Ali and Sonu, said a police official.

Yesterday, around 10.30 am, Vikas, a resident of Uttam Nagar, was waiting for a bus, meanwhile two persons came and one of them snatched his mobile phone and ran away.

The victim started shouting and on hearing his voice, the police in the vicinity started chasing the snatchers. A person, who is the member of “eyes and ears” scheme of the police, also started to chase them along with personnel.

After a little chase, the police and “eyes and ears” scheme member succeeded to nab the snatchers. Both the snatchers were arrested and the mobile phone was recovered from their possession, said the official.

During interrogation, it was revealed that they belong to poor families and fell into bad companies. They wanted to live a lavish life therefore they started committing snatchings, said DCP Vijay Kumar, West District, Delhi.
