In a major bus accident a bus going to Ajmer Dargah Sharif turned upside down in Burari, Delhi, said a Delhi police official today.
According to eyewitness, the incident occurred when the bus hit the underpass divider. There were around 40 pilgrims in the bus out of which ten got severely injured and were taken to nearby Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital.
Khusbu, a passenger of the bus, was lucky to be safe said, “It was around 12 in the night and I was sleeping when suddenly I saw myself hanging in the middle of the bus. I was lucky because I was over a bag so received minor injuries. The passengers were shouting for help. After quite some time rescue team approached and passengers were taken out of the bus.”
The incident occurred when the bus was passing Kaliyar Sharif Dargah towards Delhi Nirankari ground were all the busses assemble before going to Ajmer Dargah Sharif.
According to another passenger of the bus Mustaqim, “I was seated on the front seat of the bus. The bus was not in speed but suddenly it hit the underpass divider and turned upside down.”
The reason of the accident according to other on board passengers was that the driver was tired and might have fallen asleep.
The impact of the accident was so severe that complete engine and wheels of the bus came out.
