4 held for snatching, auto thefts in Mayur Vihar

NEW DELHI:The police arrested four accused, including one minor, involved in over 17 cases of snatching and auto thefts from Mayur Vihar, said a police official.



New Delhi, June 13

The police arrested four accused, including one minor, involved in over 17 cases of snatching and auto thefts from Mayur Vihar, said a police official.

Nine stolen motorcycles and four stolen mobile phones were recovered from their possession.

They would steal motorcycles parked unattended on roads and streets in residential areas and use them to commit snatching.

On June 11, a victim lodged a complaint regarding the theft of his motorcycle. He said he had parked his motorcycle in the street.

The CCTV camera footage was shared amongst police and the staff at pickets and patrolling was alerted. The same evening the two men were intercepted with the stolen motorcycle.

The two persons are identified as Kishor (24), who is involved in six such cases, and Vishal (25) with one previous involvement. They both are residents of Trilokpuri, the official said.

In another similar case, two persons, including a minor, had used a stolen motorcycle to snatch the mobile phone of the complainant,  a BSC student. He was commuting to CP for his classes when his mobile phone was snatched, said the DCP  (east district).

In this case, the quick reaction of the patrolling staff of Pandav Nagar resulted in the apprehension of the accused on the spot with the help of the public. He was identified as Monu, a resident of Khichdipur,  he said. — TNS
