With the race for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections is gradually picking up the pace, seven nominations were filed on the first day with majority among them being independents, as confirmed by a Delhi State Election Commission official.
The State Election Commission could not provide the name of the political parties of the candidates, with an official saying that their affidavits will be uploaded on the website of the Election Commission from tomorrow onwards.
Among the nominations filed today, two each were filed for wards in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation while three candidates filed their papers for wards in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation.
Two candidates - Vishnu and Shankar Prajapat - filed for Rohini C ward (32-N) and Nangloi Jat, a reserved seat (49-N) received one nomination of Mahesh.
The South Delhi Corporation saw two candidates - Ramesh Vats and Prem Kumar - submitting their papers from Lajpat Nagar ward (57-S) and Molarband ward (96-S) for the April 23 elections while for Nand Nagri ward (32-E), an SC seat and Karawal nagar West ward (61-E) under the East MCD, candidates Vicky and Chanra Dutt Kandpal filed their nomination papers.
