New Delhi, march 23

The Aam Aadmi Party today replaced 14 of its candidates for municipal polls on April 23 leaving those whose names were dropped fuming, with many among them claiming the party did not give any satisfactory reason.

It is understood that the move came amid internal dissatisfaction over distribution of tickets with many saying party volunteers were being sidelined while people from outside were being given preference.

Though the AAP on its side refused to divulge any details with party’s Delhi convener Dilip Pandey citing “internal” reasons for the change of candidates. “It is an internal issue,” Pandey said.

The AAP has until now replaced 15 candidates across the three civic bodies -- South Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation where elections were postponed yesterday to April 23 and counting of votes will take place on April 26.

AAP has replaced candidates in Adarsh Nagar, Lakshmi Park, Delhi Gate, Haiderpur, Jama Masjid, Karampura, Vishnu Garden, Khayala, Karawal Nagar-E, Nand Nagri, Sriniwaspuri, Govindpuri, Jaitpur, Kishanganj and Manglapuri.

The AAP has announced 266 candidates out of 272 municipal seats across North, South and East Delhi municipal corporations.
