New Delhi, March 28

BJP sitting councillor from Ward No. 91-S, Govindpuri, Chander Prakash today joined the Congress party in the presence of former MP Ramesh Kumar and former Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Chopra, who is also a former MLA from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency where Govindpuri falls.

Welcoming Chander Prakash in the Congress fold, Ramesh Kumar said he was confident that the councillor would follow the programmes and policies of the party and work hard to strengthen it.

Chander Prakash said that when he became a municipal councillor from the Govindpuri ward, Subhash Chopra was the MLA from Kalkaji, and due to his efforts, the Delhi government started a project to build a 14-storey flat complex to settle around 3,000 families living in the JJ clusters. The work on the flats, which began in 2013, should have been completed in three years, but after Subhash Chopra lost the election, the AAP government has not done anything to complete the construction.

Prakash said he believes in the programmes and policies of the Congress party.
