The Centre today launched a campaign aimed at elephant conservation that targets to cover 12 elephant range states of the country during which artists and craftsmen will create life-size works on the theme of elephants in places along its route.

Led by Wildlife Trust of India, the campaign aims to raise awareness about the shrinking space for wild elephants and the importance of securing elephant corridors.

Environment Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan underlined the need for a strategy for a more even distribution of the animal’s population across the country.
