DCW forces police to lodge FIR against officer

NEW DELHI:The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has forced the Kamla Nagar Market police station to lodge an FIR against a police officer, who was allegedly working in collusion with brothel owners and add IPC Sections 373 (buying minor for purposes of prostitution), 376 (punishment for rape), 109 (punishment of abetment) and 120 b (criminal conspiracy) to the case, as per the women panel here.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has forced the Kamla Nagar Market police station to lodge an FIR against a police officer, who was allegedly working in collusion with brothel owners and add IPC Sections 373 (buying minor for purposes of prostitution), 376 (punishment for rape), 109 (punishment of abetment) and 120 b (criminal conspiracy) to the case, as per the women panel here.

DCW Chairperson Swati Jaihind said that her initial theory that the business of trafficking and illegal flesh trade at G.B Road cannot flourish without the involvement of big names and police was reinforced with this case.

“The police are working in collusion with the brothel owners for trafficking minor girls. These girls are then forced into prostitution and they are made to sleep with 30 men in one day,” she said while adding that she will make sure that trafficking of minor girls is shut down at GB Road, the hub of human trafficking.

In her statement, a girl rescued from brothel number 56 at G.B Road had informed that some police officers were working in collusion with brothel owners. A notice was then sent by the DCW Chairperson to the police on missing sections in the FIR and she also asked the reason for not taking any action against the erring police officer.

“Sections 373, 376, 109 and 120b were added to the FIR after the notice. FIR was registered against the erring officer too,” said an official from the DCW.

“On 21 July, the DCW had rescued two girls from brothel number 56 at G.B Road with the help on an NGO. The girls in their statement had said that some police officers were working in collusion with brothel owners.

In her notice to the Kamla Nagar police station DCW chairperson Swati Jaihindhad inquired about the missing sections in the FIR and also asked why no action was taken against the police officer who was working in collusion with the brothel owners.

“After the notice an FIR was registered against the police officers involved with the brothel owners and relevant sections were also added to the FIR. Section 373, buying minor for purposes of prostitution, was added to the F.I.R which was missing in the earlier FIR,” said the official
