The menace of drunken driving, which kills thousands of individuals every year in Delhi, is one of the main areas of focus for Delhi Police. On Sunday, a road safety activity was organised on the India Gate lawns to spread awareness on anti-drunken driving and anti-stunt riding.
Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra has urged Delhiites to abide traffic rules and requested them to make the roads of the city safer by shunning drunken driving and not performing stunts while riding.
The 32-year-old actor said, “Please don't drink and drive as it is not only about you, it is also about your friends, family and other people on the road. Please keep the spirit alive, have fun, but be responsible.”
DCP Traffic A K Singh (Central Range) said, “Sidharth's voice will resonate the younger generation and that is what made him a 'good choice' for the campaign.”
Ved Prakash Vats, Sub-Inspector, Road Safety Cell, added, “The drive is basically about making the people aware about the consequences of drunken driving and stunts.
“They need to understand such irresponsible behaviour is dangerous for both, them and their families.”
"l'm aware of the road rules and for road safety. I use these three magical words ‘Stop, Look and Wave," said Aarav, 10, who along with his family visited India Gate.
