Four kids receive burns after their house catches fire

NEW DELHI:Four children received burn injuries in a house fire in Badarpur of Southeast Delhi on Sunday evening.

Four children received burn injuries in a house fire in Badarpur of Southeast Delhi on Sunday evening.

The incident happened when four siblings, two brothers and two sisters, were studying and had lighted a candle because there was a power cut in the area.

According to a senior police officer, as the children had lighted the candle on the top of a plastic cooler which caught fire which spread in the entire house.

The parents of the children were not present when the incident happened as they had gone to work for their living, the officer.

According to a Delhi Fire Service official, the fire tenders attended the call at 11 pm and the fire was brought under control. Four children received burns in the incident.

A passerby, who made the PCR call, said it was around 9 pm when he spotted that there was a fire in the house. “A few neighbours and I rushed and pulled the trapped children out. They are all aged less than 10 years and are siblings,” said the passerby, who was on his way to buy candles when he saw the fire.

The children were admitted to Safdurjung Hospital. Rakhi and Dipali, who received 40 per cent burns, are in burn ward whereas two brothers Lucky and Ashu have received less burns compare to their sisters and are still under medication at Safdurjung Hospital, added the officer.
