At a time when the gap between demand and supply of life-saving organs is widening, “Gift A Life”— an initiative to encourage people to pledge their organs and save, at least, eight lives from untimely deaths by signing up on the web site – www.giftalife.org — endorsed by Cricketer Gautam Gambhir was announced today in the national Capital.
The former Indian captain has joined hands with Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in run up to the World Organ Donation Day in a bid to break the myths surrounding organ donation and in process exhorting people to pledge to help the cause.
Gambhir, said, “Thousands die every year for want of organs. Organ donation in India is not very common as compared to the developed nations, hence a lot of awareness needs to be created.”
