German files rape case against husband

NEW DELHI: A 44-year-old German woman has approached the police alleging that she was raped by her 24-year-old Punjab-based husband and father-in-law, said a police official today.

A 44-year-old German woman has approached the police alleging that she was raped by her 24-year-old Punjab-based husband and father-in-law, said a police official today.

The police today registered a case against the husband in Delhi, even though she alleged that the rape happened in Punjab. Her father-in- law, whom she said has also molested her, has not been named in the FIR, said the official.

According to the victim, she got married in Germany. The couple returned to India and started staying with the man's family in Punjab. She also has alleged that her father-in-law and husband sexually assaulted her, the official added.

According to a senior police officer, the woman said she had befriended her husband on social networking website Facebook and she started residing with the family in Punjab after her wedding last year.

They were planning to move to Germany and had recently come to Delhi for undertaking visa formalities, the, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Mandeep Singh Randhawa said.
