The students of Guru Harkrishan Public School will celebrate Green Diwali instead bursting of crackers. Students yesterday reached Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) office with plants at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. They distributed plants to the DSGMC members and teachers and took a pledge to plant saplings on this Diwali.
Students gifted a plant to Vikram Singh, the personal assistant of DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK, and appealed to him to save the environment and increase greenery.
Vikram Singh said the students promise to take care of environment and follow the Supreme Court order that banned the sale of crackers in the city.
Last year, the DSGMC had also started the campaign of “Guru Har Rai Sahib Save Environment Movement” on the occasion of Diwali and Nagar Kirtan, he said.
