Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will join his colleagues in his party’s campaign for the next month’s municipal corporation elections at a rally on March 31 in Burari where senior party leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, will also share the dais with him to pitch for the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) win.

Realising well that the April 23 polls are no longer a cakewalk for it, the AAP has begun canvassing for the MCD polls in full swing with its MLAs and leaders already on the field.

“The party has decided to hold more than 1,000 ward-level meetings and our focus is on local issues,” said a party leader at a time when the BJP riding high on the Modi charisma nurtures hope of winning the MCD polls and in process engaging all its top guns to woo the electorate of the national capital.

Party leaders, such as AAP Delhi in charge Ashish Talwar, said the MCD elections highly localised and the party will be holding ward-wise meetings wherein the party will discuss solutions to local problems they are facing.

“Our campaign strategy is Delhi-centric. We know that people of Delhi want to hear about solutions for Delhi problems from leaders of Delhi,” he said.

“Our campaign has already begun with AAP leaders like Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Dilip Pandey, among others already

campaigning for our municipal candidates,” an AAP leader told The Tribune.
