At a time when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is caught in a crisis in the backdrop of graft allegations, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is preparing to hold a direct dialogue with farmers in outer Delhi villages from May 25 on the new land-pooling policy. The move is aimed at boosting the party’s outreach in the rural areas of the national Capital.

“The AAP national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal will hold a direct dialogue with farmers in different areas of Delhi. In the first phase the interaction will be with the farmers of Najafgarh and Matiala areas on May 25 on land-pooling policy,” AAP’s Selhi convener Gopal Rai said.

“In his interaction with the farmers, Kejriwal will mainly talk about the benefits of land-pooling policy. The Chief Minister will also address the concerns of farmers,” Rai said.

The interactions will be about the government’s recent notification of land pooling policy under which 89 villages have been declared as urban areas.

He said similar dialogue of the Chief Minister with farmers will also be held in other regions, including Narela, Burari, Kirari, Bawana and Badli while adding the dialogues would help the party strengthen its base in rural areas.

“After June 15, a convention of party workers will be organised in each assembly constituency and the Chief Minister will address party volunteers to strengthen the party at booth level and district level,” Rai said, while adding that the exercise is part of the party’s “Mera Booth Sabse Majboot” campaign to strengthen the party after it fared miserably in civic polls.

Meanwhile, the residents led by Harichand Gahlot, president of the National Kisan Sanjha Manch met Kejriwal and lauded the government for the policy.

The interactions are part of larger plan to mobilise party workers at different levels. For this, the AAP will organise meetings in assembly constituencies with district presidents, MLAs, councillors and party candidates who lost during municipal elections.
