The Delhi Police detained Baljeet Singh Khalsa (54), a resident of Chandigarh, from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib last night. He was taken to the Kotwali Police Station in Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi.

According to Khalsa, “While I was sleeping in gurdwara last night, around 20 to 30 policemen, some in uniform and some in civil dress, woke me up and asked me to accompany them and brought me to the police station.”

“They have further told me that I have been brought to the police station for questioning regarding some objectionable posters they have gathered from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, which belongs to me,” he added.

When The Tribune spoke to the Deputy Commissioner of police, Jatin Narwal (North Delhi), he said, “Yes we have detained Baljeet Singh Khalsa and a joint interrogation is being carried out by Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Delhi Police. Further details can’t be shared.”

“We received information from sevadars in Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib that some objectionable posters have been found in possession of Khalsa, therefore, he has been detained and further questioning is going on by a joint team of IB,” said Station House Officer Om Prakash (Chandni Chowk).
