The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in its endeavour to spread the message of cleanliness and to promote clean and green environment today launched a specially decorated train with slogans on ‘Swacchta’ and greetings on the occasion of Diwali.

The train was formally launched by Sharat Sharma, DMRC Director (Operations), today at the Udyog Bhawan Metro Station in which he wrote the 1st prize winning slogan (part of an online slogan writing competition organised by the DMRC form September 26 to October 2 to commemorate third anniversary of “Swachh Bharat Mission”) “Na shor hai, na jam hai, Swachhta ka Metro deti paigam hai” to convey the importance of clean and green environment to Metro commuters on the eve of Diwali, a DMRC spokesperson said.

This special six-coach train will keep running on Line 2 Samyapur Badli to HUDA City Centre with tastefully decorated exteriors to promote importance of cleanliness to inspire public, especially youth and children.

Exteriors of the train have been exclusively decorated in colorful theme of nature, spirit of festivity and Diwali greetings include one liner messages to the public to provide clean and green future to their children by saying “No to crackers”, he said.

Such an initiative has the potential to spread the message on importance of cleanliness and inspire everyone to contribute in the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, a government initiative, by keeping their surroundings clean and staying away from any such act which damages the surroundings.

On account of the Diwali festival the last Metro train service on October 19 will start at 10 pm from terminal stations of all Metro lines, including Airport Express Line.

The Metro train services will run as usual for rest of the day on Diwali from 6 am onwards on all lines and from 4.45 am on Airport Express Line, he said.
