New Delhi, January 10

Admissions under the 25 per cent seats reserved in nursery classes of Delhi’s private unaided non-minority schools for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG) categories began today.

For schools recognised under Delhi School Education Act, the admissions will be conducted through online process and a centralised lottery to ensure transparency and accountability in the admission process. This eliminates any interference of private schools during the admission process, said the Directorate of Education (DoE) in an official notification here.

The DoE had last night announced the schedule and guidelines for admissions for the two categories, besides the schedule for 298 private schools operating on DDA land which were earlier asked to put the admission process on hold.

The application process for the two categories will conclude on January 31. The first list will be displayed on February 28 and subsequent lists will come out on March 15 and 31.

According to the DoE, post the lottery, private schools will simply be communicated the children who will be allotted admission in their schools.
