New Delhi, March 30
The Delhi Government's Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) today arrested a principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Nithari near Sultanpuri on the charges of embezzlement of government funds to the tune of Rs 27,35,870.
Before his arrest, an FIR had been filed against the principal Ashok Kumar Singh, now under suspension on a complaint by a senior official of the Vigilance department of Directorate of Education (DoE). The role of two other officers--Dy. Director of Education, North - West & Education Officer- is yet to be ascertained in the case as they failed to supervise the conduct/deeds of the principal resulting in misappropriation and embezzlement of the funds, said officials.
During the course of investigation of the documents seized from the school, it came to light that the accused also withdrew money by issuing cheques in the name of teachers; which is a clear violation of the procedure, they added.
