The Shiromani Akali Dal president, Paramjit Singh Sarna who is contesting election of the DSGMC from ward number nine, Punjabi Bagh, said that he had completed the first round of door-to-door campaigning and he received an overwhelming support everywhere.

He said, “There was no anti-incumbency factor against us. We are in opposition. We are telling the people that the ruling party in the DSGMC, SAD Badal, could not fulfill the promises it had made in its manifesto of the previous elections.”

The SAD Badal had won the previous elections on the issue of Guru Harkrishan Hospital. They have been in the DSGMC for the last four years but could not start it.
