School van driver held for molesting 10-year-old girl

A school cab driver is arrested for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old student while dropping her home in outer Mangolpuri, said a police official.

The girl was studying in Sun Smile Public School, situated at Aman Vihar. While recording her statement on Thursday, she said the accused, Ambuj Kumar, was molesting her after dropping all the children for the past one week.

According to the complainant, the girl, who used to be the last to be dropped, was forced by Kumar to sit on his lap on the pretext of giving her driving lessons. He also touched the girl inappropriately and threatened her when she cried in pain.

The parents informed she had refused to go to school for the past few days and complained of sickness, the official said.

A case under sections of molestation and the POCSO Act was registered, said Additional DCP (outer) Rajender Singh Sagar.

He admitted to have assaulted the child. He has been sent to Tihar Jail on a 14-day judicial custody.
