New Delhi, June 15

A delegation from The Elders, a London-based organisation of independent global leaders, has sought a meeting with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and also proposed to visit a mohalla clinic.

In a letter, dated June 13, to Kejriwal, Kofi Annan, former United Nations (UN) Secretary General and the chair of The Elders, also stated a delegation from the organisation will visit India in September.

A planning team from The Elders’s secretariat will visit the capital in July, according to the letter, a copy of which was tweeted by Kejriwal today.

“A delegation from The Elders will visit India from September 5 to 8. The delegation will be led by Gro Harlem Brundtland, deputy chair of The Elders and former prime minister of Norway and former director general of WHO. She will be accompanied by Ban Ki-moon, member of The Elders and former secretary general of the UN,” read the letter.

Annan, in the letter, said he hoped the planning team would be able to meet with Kejriwal's staff to discuss the September visit.

“They (delegation) would be honoured to meet you during their visit and would also propose to visit a mohalla clinic,” he added.

The Elders are an independent group of global leaders working together for peace and human rights.

Last January Annan had also commended the AAP government’s flagship mohalla clinic project, aimed at providing free primary healthcare to city residents closer to their home.
