New Delhi, June 16

Delhi Police Special Cell has busted an interstate racket of ammunition supplier and arrested two ammunition suppliers Prem Singh (37), resident of Mathura and Alok Shivhare (48), resident of Surya Nagar, Agra and recovered 1,560 illegal live cartridges, said police.

On January 13, police arrested Singh when he came on a motorcycle to supply ammunitions to Delhi. Singh disclosed that he is supplying the ammunitions to the criminals of Delhi-NCR from Shivhare, who has a gun house in the name of Shivhare Gun House, they said.

On June 15, at the instance of Singh, Shivhare was also arrested from Agra and 1,210 more live illegal cartridges of .32, .315, .22 and 30.06 bore were recovered from his possession, said DCP P S Kushwah.

The recovery is the single biggest recovery of ammunitions of 2018. In 2017, Special Cell had made single biggest recovery of ammunitions of 1,310 live cartridges from two accused, police said.

Criminals are continuously being able to procure illegal arms and ammunition. Illegal fire arms are being manufactured in Dhar, Burhanpur and Khargone districts of MP and Munger district of Bihar, police said.

Interrogation revealed that criminals procure the ammunitions from gun houses, and not from manufacturers. Hence, the Special Cell focused on this to cut the supply of the ammunition to the criminals, said police.
