‘Embrace the true values of Punjabiyat’

A drug de-addiction awareness camp was today organised at Ganna village in Phillaur by Congress MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh. The MP has adopted the village under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna.

District Ayurvedic Officer Dr Samrat Sehgal emphasised on making ground level efforts to achieve 100 per cent drug de-addiction in Punjab. Nearly 500 villagers attended the public gathering. The MP ensured that the work being done by him to turn the village into a model village has gathered new momentum under the leadership of CM Captain Amarinder Singh.

He laid stress on holistic development of the village by announcing newer projects for sanitation, playground for students and gym for the youth. He also made an announcement regarding employment generation among women. For this he laid stress on creation of effective self-help groups and effective utilisation of lead banks.

The MP has already contributed over Rs 10 lakh from the MPLADs funds for the village. Chaudhary has directed the administration to work on all the projects on an immediate basis and prepare proposals after surveys in a time bound manner. Chaudhary urged the youth to shun away the menace of toxic drugs and embrace the true values of ‘Punjabiyat’ which include hard work and self-confidence.

SDM Varinderpal Singh, President MC Phillaur Narinder Goyal, Tehsildar Tapan Bhanot, block President Makhan Khera, Gulzari Lal Sarpanch and members panchayat and teams of doctors were among the others present.
