In yet another accident in the district involving truck, two migrant labourers died while six sustained injuries after a truck laden with gravel overturned. The driver had lost its control while trying to save a scooter rider in Kapoor village at Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur highway this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Sunil Kumar (21) and Rupesh Kumar (19) of Kachra village in Saharsa district in Bihar. The deceased were cousins. The injured have been identified as Raja Kumar (19), Phool Chand (45), Shubham Kumar (19), Anil Kumar (25) and Roshan Kumar (22), Chander (20) of Kehap village in Saharsa district. They were taken to the civil hospital for treatment.
The truck driver, who has been identified as Aalam from Uttar Pradesh, escaped after the accident. The police, with the help of villagers and JCB machine, undertook the rescue operation. The Maqsudan police said labourers were employed with Aggarwal Constructions in Bidhipur and heading towards Patara village for the construction of a road.
