Jalandhar, February 17
A labourer was killed in a boiler explosion at a factory in Nahla village today.
According to the police, the mishap took place at the Guru Vallabh factory.
“The labourer seemed to have set the boiler at a high temperature and had gone away for some time. When he tried to open it after some time, it must have burst, killing him on the spot,” a senior official said. The labourer was identified as Dheeraj, a resident of Basti Peer Daad. The factory management claimed that Dheeraj died on the way when he was being rushed to a hospital.
Phagwara: A migrant labourer (Pappu) from Uttar Pradesh was reportedly electrocuted in the nearby Khalwara village today. It was learnt that Pappu was working on the road and was loading a truck with stones when the vehicle touched high-tension wires.— TNS & OC
