2 snatchers arrested; fake currency racket busted

JALANDHAR: The Jalandhar police today arrested two accused involved in several cases of mobile phone snatchings. The police recovered four mobile phones and a bullet motorcycle from their possession.

The Jalandhar police today arrested two accused involved in several cases of mobile phone snatchings.

The police recovered four mobile phones and a bullet motorcycle from their possession. The accused were identified as Rahul and Manjinder, a resident of Nurmahal.

Addressing mediapersons, SHO Jalandhar sadar police station, Gurvinder Singh, said during checking at the check-post on the Kanganiwal bridge, a police party tried to stop a Pulsar motorbike that had no registration number.

Though the riders managed to escape from the place, due to swift action by the police party, they were caught later.

They accepted that they had indulged in several incidents of motorcycle and mobile phone snatchings.

The police registered an FIR against them and started search of their other accomplices.

Fake currency racket

The police today busted a fake currency racket by arresting three persons near the Verka milk plant area.

Though the police identified four persons in this regard, the fourth accused managed to fee fromthe spot.

The cops recovered fake currency worth Rs 1.07 lakh from them that included Rs 60,000 in Rs 500 dnomination and the rest in Rs 100 denomination.

The arrested men included Paramjit Singh and Massa Ram, residents of Sultanpur Lodhi, and Mandeep Singh, a resident of Amritsar.

The accused who fled from the spot was identified as Deepak Kumar, a resident of Sultanpur Lodhi.
