Jalandhar, December 7

Four-time Municipal Corporation councillor Joginder Singh Tony, who was with the BJP, has quit the party after he was denied ticket from ward number 50 and today joined the Congress.

He was taken into the Congress by Jalandhar MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh. Representing the Makhdoompura area, Tony had filed his claim from the party in ward 50, while his daughter-in-law Jasmeet Kaur was a claimant from ward 20. After the BJP denied him ticket from both wards, he went the Congress way today and announced to support its candidate Prabhmeet Singh (Sherry Chadda) from ward number 50.

The BJP has given ticket to Rajesh Jain, circle president of the party, from the ward.

Tony had won thrice as independent candidate and was a BJP councillor in the last MC House.
