5 dengue cases reported from Phagwara

PHAGWARA: Five cases of dengue were reported from the city in the past few days.



Phagwara: Five cases of dengue were reported from the city in the past few days. A total of 15 patients, who are suspected to be suffering from dengue, are being treated at different hospitals. Joginder Maan, a resident of Onkar Nagar, and Archna Devi of the same locality are getting treatment for dengue at two private hospitals. Mohammad Bhola and a child are also being treated at the DMCH, Ludhiana. Manoj Rawal of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar was admitted to the Civil Hospital. Later, he was referred to the DMCH, Ludhiana, on Sunday. Though a separate ward was set up for dengue patients at the Civil Hospital, not a single patient suffering from dengue are getting treatment as doctors refer them to either Jalandhar or Ludhiana. Senior medical officers could not be contacted for their comments despite repeated attempts.

Student injured in attack 

Phagwara: Maninder Singh, a student of Class XII, of Saffron Public School was reportedly attacked by four youths in front of the school on Saturday in the evening. Maninder was admitted to the Civil Hospital. The police have registered a case in this regard. OC

One held with intoxicating injections  

Phagwara: The police arrested Charanjit, alias Reetha, a resident of Chachoki village, with 16 intoxicating injections on Saturday. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. OC

One arrested with illicit liquor 

Phagwara: The police arrested a person with 14 bottles of illicit liquor on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Dara, a resident of Palahai Gate. A case under the Excise Act has been registered in this regard. OC
