AAP promises transport, free sanitary pads for women

JALANDHAR: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its women’s manifesto, promising public transport for women by the Municipal Corporation (MC), free sanitary pad disbursal at all public places and setting up of mohalla clinics for health check-ups.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its women’s manifesto, promising public transport for women by the Municipal Corporation (MC), free sanitary pad disbursal at all public places and setting up of mohalla clinics for health check-ups.

While the party volunteers distributed pamphlets of the manifesto in various parts of the city, party district president said the men’s manifesto would be out tomorrow.

The promises made to women voters include reservations in the MC jobs, public toilets for them in all commercial complexes, street lights in the residential areas, installation of CCTV cameras, free disbursal of sanitary pads at all public toilets, setting up of mohalla clinics for health check-ups, public transport for women by the municipal corporation, the drivers of which shall be women, new parks for children, steps to be taken to render the city free of dengue.

Other promises on the manifesto include organisation of seminars for women on fundamental rights, child rights, awareness on child labour etc. The manifesto also promises Mahila Surakhsha Ghar where homeless and unemployed women shall be provided with jobs and employment.

AAP district president Babbu Neelakanth said, “The SAD-BJP government, in its 10 years of rule, has only caused havoc in the state and left a trail of farmers’ suicides. The Congress has also failed to ensure any development for the sate or the city in the few months of its government. The AAP’s thrust shall be on facilitating residents with development agenda and bringing in reforms in MC functioning for women.”
