The academic council of IKG PTU University in its 50th meeting held at university campus, chaired by Vice Chancellor Kahan Singh Pannu, unanimously endorsed the approach of consolidation of technical education based on quality parameters. University spokesperson said the academic council had decided to focus only on technical education and decided to review non-technical part time courses started in recent years. This inspection will be conducted by the university’s faculty. The spokesperson said the academic council advised all affiliated colleges to apply for NAAC accreditation in a time-bound manner as per the UGC norms. The university also decided to conduct golden chance examination, but only at its main campus.
Seminar on architecture
The School of Architecture and Design at Lovely Professional University invited architect Raj Rewal to interact with students on the topic ‘Dialogue on architecture and urban habitat’. Rewal has a productive career spanning over five decades in architectural practice, research and thought processes. His main interest lies in historic models. Interacting with students and faculty members, Rewal gave importance to the representation of culture through contemporary architecture and creation of built environment that are climate responsive and culturally active. He deliberated on design ideation of his famous architectural projects including Hall of Nation (New Delhi) and Jung-e-Azadi Museum (Kartarpur, Punjab). He also expressed his concern for the conservation of post-modern architectural masterpieces in India.
