Akali-BJP govt failed to nab Gagneja’s assailants: RSS

JALANDHAR: Activists of the Rashtriya Swayamsevwak Sangh (RSS) today alleged that the former Akali-BJP government in the state had not been able to nab the culprits behind the murder of senior RSS ideologue Jagdish Gagneja who had been gunned down by armed assailants in Jalandhar.

Activists of the Rashtriya Swayamsevwak Sangh (RSS) today alleged that the former Akali-BJP government in the state had not been able to nab the culprits behind the murder of senior RSS ideologue Jagdish Gagneja who had been gunned down by armed assailants in Jalandhar.

Speaking to the media at Pili Kothi in Jalandhar, the RSS hub, media in-charge of the RSS Prachar Wing Ram Gopa said while the matter was under investigation by the CBI, the SAD-BJP government had failed to nab the culprits who murdered Gagneja, who was working for the betterment of society.

Ram Gopal said since 2009 until now, as many as 20,000 branches (shakhas) of the RSS had been set up. He claimed that on an average of 4 lakh ever year, as many as 12 lakh people had been associated with the RSS through the social media so far. He also claimed that the activities of the RSS within the media had increased.

Ramgopal claimed while 187 Narad Jayanti events were held across the county last year, as many as 6,137 media persons had participated in it. He also claimed that for the first time, Sangh head Dr Mohan Bhagwat had held a programme at Arunachal Pradesh recently.

Claiming that excesses were taking place against Hindus in West Bengal, he said while in 1951, there were 78.40 per cent Hindus in West Bengal, the number had reduced to 70.54 per cent. Condemning the Mamata Bannerji government in Kolkata for disallowing Sangh head Dr Mohan Bhagwat's programme, he said eventually the event was allowed by the HC and saw the participation of 2,00 swayam sewaks. Ram Gopal said in Punjab, in 2018, a fair shall be held to highlight the achievements and the social service done by the members of the Hindu, Jain and Sikh communities shall be highlighted.

He said the RSS annual meet was held at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu for the first time in which RSS activists from across the country participated of which 27 were from Punjab. He claimed that in Punjab, the RSS was rapidly spreading its wings.
