BSP, SGPC leaders join AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today got a fillip as leaders of various political parties and organisations joined the AAP in the presence of the national spokesperson and in charge, Punjab Affairs, Sanjay Singh.

Jalandhar division coordinator of Bahujan Samaj Party Dr Harbhajan Mehmi, secretaries of Garhshankar Premnath and Narinder Kumar, leaders Balakar Singh and Jagtar Singh joined the party today.

Leaders of the BSP student wing Jaspreet Mehmi, Vishwas and Hardeep Choudhary also came into the AAP fold in the presence of party’s candidate from Garhshankar Jaikishan Singh Rori.

The leaders joined the AAP in the presence of in charge, Punjab Affairs, Sanjay Singh, and in charge (Malwa) Political Management Committee Jagdeep Singh Brar. According a warm welcome to all these leaders, Sanjay Singh said they had joined the revolution to cleanse the corrupt system.

SGPC member and former president of the Akali Dal from SBS Nagar Mohinder Singh Hussainpur, former vice-president Youth Akali Dal Harprabhmehal Singh, former president of Akali Dal from SBS Nagar Jai Singh Dilawarpur also joined the AAP in the presence of the AAP candidate from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr) Charanjit Singh Channi.

Apart from this, ex-President of All India Kissan and Mazdoor Sabha Hardev Singh Sandhu, Member State Committee Nirmal Singh and Davinder Singh Ghali also joined the party.

First day of election staff training today

With the first dayof training for polling staff tomorrow, over 18, 000 polling staff to be deputed in the district shall be trained at varioustraining centres.

While applications are being received from couples who have been deputed on duties as well as many teachers who are suffering from ailments, the duties of none of the staff has been cancelled so far.

There are over 200 cases of couples being deputed for poll duties. Many applications have also sought exemptions, citing medical grounds.

However, only genuine cases shall be cleared for exemption by the medical committee deputed specially for the purpose.

With the concerns of polling staff not being able to cast their own votes due to election duties being raised during previous elections, staff has this time been instructed to go to their first training tomorrow with their form 12.

Notably, over 4, 000 of the polling staff deputed during elections are from the Education Department.

With the Election Commission acting tough on irregularities or negligence in duty by polling staff, strict cognisance of discrepancies and disobedienice of duties is being taken this year.
