The Chandigarh team was declared winner in the 15th National Soft Tennis Championship (boys and girls) held at Cambridge International School on Tuesday.

The Chandigarh team was declared winner in the 15th National Soft Tennis Championship (boys and girls) held at Cambridge International School on Tuesday. Chandigarh’s Nikita got the first place while Adya Tiwari, Khalida and Kriti of Madhya Pradesh got the second and third position, respectively. In the boys’ category, Rohit and Sachit of Chandigarh got the first place while Jeetu and Karanjot got the second and third position respectively. In the boys’ single category, Rohit of Chandigarh got the first place while Jeetu of Delhi got the second position and Atul and Sanesh of Uttar Pradesh got the third place. In the overall category, boys, Chandigarh got the first place while Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat got the second and third place respectively. The winners were awarded certificates by JK Khuradara, Director, Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India at Lovely Professional University.

Winners awarded

The first district Open Table Tennis Tournament for U-10, U-12 and U-15 category was organised by the Stag Puri Sports Club in the Central Town area. Punjab Table Tennis Association general secretary Pankaj Sharma gave away the prizes to the winners.

The Hot Weather Table Tennis Tournament will be held from May 27 to 29 at Raizada Hansraj Stadium here. While informing this, Coach Munish Bhardwaj said cash awards along with trophy would be given to the winners. The tournament will have participants from U-10 and U-18 category.
