Jalandhar: An inter-house creative writing competition in English and Hindi was conducted for Class III at Shiv Jyoti Public School. The event was held under the supervision of the school management and Principal Dr Ravi Suta. As many as 68 students participated in it. Savita Sharma and Suman Narula were the judges. In English stream, Kartik, Jasmine, Sarakshi and Prachi were declared first. The second position was bagged by Tanisha, Meghna, Yashika , Riya and Pratima. Vedansh, Pragya, Ridhma and Nikita secured the third position. Manjot and Aanchal got consolation prizes. In Hindi stream, Prajjwal, Aarav, Radhika and Kanavdeep were declared first. The second position was bagged by Muskaan, Shourya and Anjali. Palak and Mannat got the third position. TNS 

Students excel in IT Quiz

Jalandhar: The IT Club organised ‘IT Quiz – 2017' at Swami Sant Dass Public School. ‘Facebook’, ‘Instagram’, ‘Twitter’ and ‘WhatsApp’ were the participating teams. The quiz was divided into four rounds — general awareness, abbreviations, identification and shortcut keys. Facebook and Instagram teams entered the final round of the event. Instagram was declared the winner. Neha of the Department of IT was the host on the occasion. The winning team was awarded certificates by the principal. She also motivated students to use technology in a positive manner. TNS

Freshers’ party

Phagwara: A freshers’ party was organised by GNA University at Lilly Resort here on Thursday. In the opening session, university welcomed freshers and Dr Deepak Vohra, special adviser to the Prime Minister of Lesotho and Guinea Bissau, and Simerjeet Singh, an international speaker. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by S Gurdeep Sihra, pro-chancellor, GNA University; Dr Prem Kumar, vice-chancellor; Kunal Bains, registrar; and other dignitaries, including BN Sharma, IG, BSF (retd). Dr Prem Kumar, VC, welcomed the new students. He urged them to have determination and take the opportunity which the university would provide to groom their personality. Dr Vohra said the basis of every relationship was trust and everyone needs someone to trust on as he believes that the bedrock of every relationship was trust. Later, a performance by renowned singers Ahen Vani and Manna Mand enthralled all. OC
