CRPF constable held on rape charge

Jalandhar, October 17

The Maqsuda police arrested a 24-year-old CRPF constable after a minor alleged that he had raped her. The accused was identified as Prince Kumar.

The police said the girl, in her complaint, said that Kumar had raped her by lacing her cold drink with sedatives. The accused later promised her that he would marry her when she would turn18, but he denied this later and was going to get engaged to someone else.

The police said within a month, the girl would turn 18. The victim’s father is also a CRPF employee. A case under Section 376 of the IPC has been registered against the accused. — TNS
