Jalandhar: Dengue larvae was found in a water cooler and water storage tank of the District Administrative Complex (DAC) on Friday during the ongoing drive under the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ in the district. Larvae was also found in an air cooler at the office of the Commissioner of Police (CP).
In order to check the spread of vector-borne diseases at the District Administrative Complex, a team of the Health Department undertook the drive for checking water coolers, air coolers, water tanks and other spaces at the offices of the complex.
On the directions of Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, a team of the Health Department’s anti-larva cell, led by Dr Satish Kumar, conducted a drive at the DAC complex and the office of the CP on Tuesday.
During the drive the team checked the water and air coolers besides water storage tanks installed at the offices of the complex, when larvae of dengue was found in a water cooler and water storage tank at DAC and an air cooler at the CP office. Teams of the department drained the water.
They also made the staff aware of the fact that these places could act as a breeding ground for mosquitoes to spread the diseases like dengue, malaria and other diseases. The team also visited the canteen of the complex.—TNS
