Along with a plethora of guidelines issued for the exams to be conducted with a difference this year, the education department has also declared that the marking of the subjects of the computer science, as well as health and physical education subjects in the board exams shall be slightly different.

While the board has made various declarations that the exams this year shall be projected to stricter laws, it has done away with the in-centre grading of the aforesaid two subjects. The computer science, as well as health and physical education subjects shall now be marked like other subjects (not graded) and the mark sheets shall go to the board for checking on the lines of other subjects.

However, the two subjects won’t be part of the sex- inherent subjects which are used to determine students’ percentage.

In a letter recently issued on the matter, the board states that at different times, teachers have been demanding that their subjects also be marked like other subjects and the marks received by students in these subjects be registered in their detail marks card.

The letter further states, in the light of this, the Punjab School Education Board has decided that the written/practical exam of these subjects shall also be held on an external basis like other subjects. And in the examinees’ detail marks cards, the marks of these subjects will also be filled like other subjects but the marks received in these subjects will not be added to the marks received in the rest of the six subjects.

Dismissing rumours that there has been a change in the pass criteria for the computer science and health and physical education subjects and the receiving of more marks and passing in these subjects is very important for students, whereas other subjects could be ignored, the board claimed these were false reports, the rest of the subjects shall remain as important.
