Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting in the holy month of Ramzan, was celebrated across the district with fervour on Monday. Members of the Muslim community were seen in their best traditional outfits at local mosques in the city to offer prayers, besides exchanging gifts and sweets with friends and loved ones. However, the mosque at Gulab Devi Road was the Eid Gah in the city. The rising mercury at 40 degree celsius failed to dampen the festive spirit as members of the community converged at different mosques to offer prayers and greeted each other. Social networking sites Facebook and Whatsapp were also used as a medium to greet relatives and loved ones. District MLA Rajinder Beri, former minister Avtar Henry, besides Kapurthala DC, Mohammad Tayyab, also celebrated the festival. OC
