Jalandhar, March 27
To motivate farmers for crop diversification, a tour of progressive farmers was sent to Punjab Agriculture University by the District Agriculture Department.
The purpose of the tour was to make farmers aware of new farming technologies and educating them about dealing with crop residue after harvesting.
A group of 50 farmers led by Agriculture Development Officer Surjit Singh visited the university in Ludhiana. Chief Agriculture Officer Jugraj Singh said besides educating farmers on new technologies, farmers were made aware of new seeds of wheat and paddy crop. He said an exhibition on new farming tools was an essential part of the tour. —TNS
