Jalandhar, December 8

The allegedly flawed arrangements made by the district administration are causing a lot of inconvenience to candidates and also political parties.

Initially, the administration could not get the voters’ list published on time and only handed it over to them on the third day of the nomination day. As voters list is mandatory to attach with the candidature, no one could file any nomination on the first two days.

Secondly, huge confusion was reported due to the non-availability of separate maps of each ward. Though the Municipal Corporation has claimed that it has got separate maps made for each ward, political parties refused to buy their claim and alleged that they had not got it till date.

On Thursday as well, the district administration failed to compile the list of the candidates who withdrew their nominations on time. The election wing made the media wait till 10.30 pm before handing them over the list of the candidates who left the race to municipal polls in between.

Due to the lack of coordination among staff, it took them too long to compile the list of candidates from each of the 80 wards separately.
