Jalandhar, May 16
With the aim of providing food at Rs 10 by the district administration to the poor and needy, Sanjhi Rasoi was opened at the Civil Hospital here today.
Member Parliament (MP) Chaudhary Santokh Singh inaugurated the community kitchen. MLA Rajinder Beri and Chaudhary Surinder Singh were also present on the occasion.
Speaking to media, Chaudhary Santokh Singh said the aim of the state government was to uplift the weaker sections of society by pursuing schemes like Sanjhi Rasoi with the efforts of the district administration.
“In order to benefit more and more poor and needy people, Sanjhi Rasoi will be opened at all district headquarters in Punjab. The food will be provided free of cost to the pregnant women,” added Chaudhary.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said the Sanjhi Rasoi was opened at the Civil Hospital so that the patients and their family members could get nutritious diet at Rs 10. Initially, lunch would be provided at the Rasoi and we are planning to start dinner also in the coming months after seeing the response of the people. He said the expenses would be borne by the district administration, Red Cross and An-jal Society to run this community kitchen.
On the occasion, the MP honoured people, including Sukhjit Singh Cheema, Ranbir Singh Tut, Ashwani Khosla, Ram Singh Saluja, Anil Chopra and BS Johal for their financial contribution for Sanjhi Rasoi.
ADC (D) Girish Diyalan, ADC (G) Gurmeet Singh, SDM Rajiv Verma, AC (G) Dr Ankur Mahindru, Civil Surgeon Dr Maninder Kaur Minhas, Secretary Red Cross Amarjit Singh and others were also present on the occasion.
