Jalandhar, February 17

A fire gutted an incense sticks factory in the Sodal area here today.

The fire was so intense that it took the firemen nearly three hours to douse the flames.

Though no casualty was reported in the incident, a worker was critically injured and was being treated at the Civil Hospital.

Fire Brigade officials said this was not the first time that the Himalaya Dhoop factory had gone up in flames. The factory, despite dealing in combustible materials, has not installed fire safety system on its premises. It witness fire exigencies every year and put lives of many workers at risk, added the officials. Earlier also, the factory had caught fire and a worker was injured in the incident. — TNS
