Kidnapper-turned-drug smuggler arrested

Jalandhar Rural police today arrested a kidnapper who had just come out on bail after completing his punishment of seven years in jail with heroin, a Wagon-R car and 25 grams of heroin. During a checking by the police near Adampur, the accused Rupinder Singh alias Rimpi (34) and recovered the car and heroin from his possession.

The police said the accused, in connivance with his friends in 2010, had kidnapped one Gagandeep Singh of Adampur and had also called his family members for ransom. During this, he was kidnapped and sentenced to life.

The police informed that around a fortnight back, he had come out on bail from Kapurthala Jail and got involved in drug smuggling.
